Right 2 Repair gathers momentum
Following on from the news that the European Commissions Evaluation Report concludes that Block Exemption Regulations should not be renewed in 2010 putting in jeopardy the livelihoods of everyone working in the independent automotive aftermarket leaving motorists with the prospect of huge increases in service and repair bills, the Right to Repair campaign has stepped up a gear.

What is the Right 2 Repair campaign?

Update

The response to the Evaluation Report has been made and the lobbying of the decision makers has been stepped up.

The website www.r2rc.co.uk has been redesigned with separate areas of trade and the motorist, an online petition has been started and letters are available to print off and send to local MP's and MEP's in support of the campaign.

In addition there is a link to a video which has been posted on YouTube which explains why there is a need for the campaign. Leaflets aimed at the trade has been in circulation for several months and these are now augmented by a poster and brochure aimed at the motorist.

July saw the start of a significant push to attract media attention (radio, TV, national press and specialist motoring magazines). The campaign made the most of the opportunity to reach the motorist in 26 radio interviews including Radio 5 Live and television coverage on Channel 4 news.

The campaign received a further boost exhibiting at the British Motor Show with stand space donated by the IFA and the stand manned by volunteers from assorted businesses. This clearly demonstrates the cross industry support for the campaign and the willingness of competitors to set aside their commercial differences and work towards a common goal.

To support the campaign, visit the website www.r2rc.co.uk and sign the petition, download a letter to send to your MP and MEP.
