What they do

Measure engine coolant temperature and signals the ECU to adjust the fuel mixture.

Failure Symptoms

Poor performance and economy, hard starting or misfire. Temperature gauge reads erratically or not at all. "Check Engine" light illuminated.

Maintenance  / Service

Inspect every 12,000 - 15,000 miles. Check sensor for proper resistance values. Coolant, particuarly old coolant, may cause sensor malfunction.

NOTE: Incorrect coolant level may cause false readings.
