Autoparts (S.Wales) Ltd. is the oldest business in Pontypridd that is still trading (noted in the Muni Musem). The company commenced trading in 1962 with no employees and solely run by Mr.H.N.Edwards, an ex-RAF Pilot officer. Initially the product range consisted of batteries, manufactured by a local firm, Celtic Batteries. Distributing the batteries throughout South Wales turned the first years turnover into £1,600.

Eventually, more products were stocked and a premisise was bought, an old bakery purchased for £350. Two drivers were employed and many new lines stocked. After five years a total five vans were delivering twice a day to garages in the five valleys. In 1978 a new premisise was purchased and extended to include a facility for paint mixing and body shop equipment. In 1995 Mr.H.N.Edwards semi-retired and his son D.P.Edwards took over.

Autoparts (S.Wales) Ltd. has a portfolio of over 100,000 part numbers and supply a massive range of the high quality parts - clutch kits, steering and suspension, cooling, transmission, braking and electrical equipment. All meeting or exceeding original equipment specifications.

Auto Refinish 

An understanding of this unique part of the automotive industry is essential at all levels, from the body shop manager to the autorefinish sprayer. Autoparts (S.Wales) Ltd. work closely with our auto-refinish customers to offer the very best service and have the ability to offer high quality materials, or for the more price conscious body shop a range of products priced to suite their needs. All this backed by a service which is recognized by our existing customers as being ‘second to none’ make our auto-refinish department very successful.

Auto Electrical

A large range of rotating electrics (alternators and starter motors) for car and light commercial vehicles is available. Autoparts (S.Wales) Ltd. also repair and remanufacture alternators and starter motors in our fully equipped electrical workshop operated by auto-electricians - trained by the worlds leading manufacturers of rotating electrics. The workshop include testing and analytical equipment and a parts store which includes virtually every component needed to repair or remanufacture an alternator or starter motor. This huge resource coupled with our staff’s determination to give the most efficient service possible makes this a very busy department within our company.
