What do they do?

Measure air temperature in the intake manifold. The sensor's resistance changes as the temperature increases or decreases. The ECU receives this change in signal and adjusts the injector pulse width and fuel mixture accordingly.

Failure Symptoms

"Check Engine" light is on continuously, hesitation or strong exhaust odour. Poor performance and economy. Engine temperature gauge reads erratically or obivously incorrect.

Maintenance / Service

Inspect for damage or corrosion on terminals when error codes indicate a problem in this circuit. Check the sensor for carbon accumulation or contaiminants which can cause false readings.
